Catch & Release

Practice Catch & Release in Ontario, CanadaSince Pipestone Fly-In Outposts started in business, we have practiced "catch and release".  What this means is that you may keep your conservation limit of walleyes under 18" and northerns under 27" while you are on the lake but you may not take any fish or trophies from our lakes.

By our high repeat business we know that our guests share our desire to maintain a healthy fishery in our lakes.  Many of our guests who have caught a trophy simply practice C.P.R. (catch, picture and release) while others measure the length and girth of the fish, release the fish and have a graphite replica made.  Both of these techniques allow for many years of enjoyment without harming the fish that took so long to grow to trophy size.

Walleye fishing in Ontario, CanadaIt is certainly a pleasure to see the smile on the face of an angler who has just caught a "big one" or watch one of their children hoist a "lunker" into the boat.  To ensure this smile for years to come on the face of your children and grandchildren, please remove the hooks carefully, handle the fish tenderly and with satisfaction, return the fish to the water in a timely manner.

When a fish is brought into the boat, it is like running a marathon and being told to hold your breath.  When you bring this fish into the boat, start holding your breath.  Return the fish back to the water quickly and safely before you start to breath again.  Gently slide the fish back into the water, don't toss it back.  Ontario northern pike fishingFish can die from injury caused by being thrown into the water.

Keep our waters in Northwest Ontario a sportaman's paradise.  The future of this fantastic fishing experience is in your hands.

"What a great fishing trip again.  It seems like every year we gain about 3/4 of an inch on the walleyes.  Just goes to show you what the Catch & Release program is doing to the fishery." - Ed, Sheboygan Falls, WI
